Rasuwa is not only a tragedy. It is a test of how we respond when our own are left with nothing.

The water has receded.

The loss has not.

The flood took only moments to tear through homes, livelihoods and memories built over generations. What it left behind cannot be measured only in damaged roads, broken bridges or buried buildings. It is measured in empty rooms, interrupted childhoods, vanished incomes and families suddenly unsure of tomorrow.

Rasuwa is not a distant tragedy unfolding somewhere beyond the mountains. It is part of us. When one community loses the ground beneath its feet, the rest of the nation must become the ground on which it stands. Families now need food, clean water, medicine, shelter and the means to rebuild their lives. Every contribution, large or small, can become a warm meal, a dry bed, essential treatment or the first brick of a new beginning.

Nature and people are inseparable. We cannot celebrate our rivers and mountains in times of beauty, then turn away when disaster descends through them.

Rasuwa has already endured the force of the flood. It should not have to endure the silence of the rest of us.
